FAQs

What do I do if I am unable to log in?

Double check your username. Typically, your school email address is used with a default password of 1234. If you are unable to log in, reach out to your instructor as soon as possible.

After logging in, how do I know which course to select?

You can practice any course visible to you. Your instructor will direct you to specific courses that align with your syllabus. If a course is listed, it is available for your practice.

Is the summary and learning objective screens something I need to read carefully, or can I skip it?

Read the summary and learning objective screens carefully, as they provide essential information such as:

  • Learning objectives for the skill
  • Relevant competencies
  • References to specific lectures or textbook chapters
  • Additional instructions from your instructor

This information prepares you for the skill scenario, so do not skip it. Your instructor may include crucial details to help you practice effectively.

For self-practice, do I need any special equipment, or can I do this entirely on my computer or phone?

You only need a web-enabled device (e.g., computer, tablet, or phone) for scenarios. You can walk through or verbalize scenarios on your own. Any additional equipment for hands-on practice (e.g., task trainers, consumables) will be provided by instructors in advance.

During the live evaluation, how do I know which option to choose for a given step?

Answer options may vary by institution (e.g., Completed, Incomplete). Mark based on your performance (if practicing) or your observation (if observing a peer). Be honest and professional when marking performance.

In self-practice, physically perform the skill while marking your progress. During peer practice, one student performs while the other observes and marks.

What is Session Feedback and Score Break Down and what do I do after I am done?

Review your session feedback to identify areas for improvement, and use this information to focus on specific steps in future practice sessions. The score page provides a formative score to track your progress over time.

Depending on your instructor's guidance and your comfort level:

  • Repeat self-practice to familiarize yourself further with the scenario.
  • Move on to peer practice when you feel ready for observed performance.

Should I be concerned about my score during self-practice?

Initial self-practice helps you familiarize yourself with the steps and the platform. SimCapture is a tool for improvement, not grading your practice. In subsequent self-practice attempts, be honest in your self-assessment to create a baseline and track your progress.

Feel free to mark steps as incomplete or needing practice; this creates a more accurate record of your progress.

Remember: The goal is improvement, not perfect scores from the start.
