Overview
Use Screen Recording (Beta) to capture and record the screen of your mobile device during a SimCapture session. This feature is ideal for recording applications such as Monitor by Laerdal (TruMonitor) and including that display as part of your simulation recording.
Before You Begin
Make sure:
- Screen Recording (Beta) has been enabled for your organization.
- Ensure the SimCapture Mobile Camera app is updated to version 1.10.4 or later before starting a session.
- The SimCapture Mobile Camera app is open on your device before the session starts.
- You must have an active SimCapture Cloud account.
- The SimCapture Mobile Camera app must be open on the device before starting a session.
Audio captured during screen sharing comes from the mobile device's built-in microphone. Audio can be muted within SimCapture Cloud if needed.
Start Your First Screen Recording Session
Step 1: Open the Mobile Camera App
On your mobile device, open the SimCapture Mobile Camera app.
Step 2: Start a Session
From SimCapture, open the Session Viewer and start your session as you normally would.
Step 3: Select Screenshare
On the pre-recording screen, tap Screenshare instead of using the device camera.
Step 4: Allow Screen Recording
Your device will prompt you to grant screen recording permissions.
Important
iOS and Android require screen recording permission before each screen-sharing session. You must approve this prompt to continue.
Step 5: Confirm the Screen Feed
Once permission is granted, your device screen will appear as a live video feed in the SimCapture Session Viewer.
Step 6: Open the App You Want to Record
Navigate to the application you want to capture, such as Monitor by Laerdal (TruMonitor) .
Step 7: Start Recording
Return to the Session Viewer and start recording.
SimCapture will record everything displayed on the shared screen during the session.
Step 8: End the Session
When the session ends, screen recording automatically stops.
Audio During Screen Sharing
When using Screen Recording, audio is captured from the mobile device's built-in microphone.
If you do not want to record audio from the device, you can mute the feed within SimCapture Cloud.
Tips for Best Results
- Keep the mobile device unlocked during the session.
- Disable automatic screen sleep or auto-lock.
- Grant screen-recording permissions when prompted.
- Use a dedicated tablet for applications such as TruMonitor when possible.
Troubleshooting
I don't see my screen in SimCapture
- Verify that you selected Screenshare .
- Confirm that screen recording permissions were approved.
- Restart the session if necessary.
My screen sharing stopped during the session
The device may have locked or entered sleep mode. Unlock the device and start a new session if required.
