SimCapture On-Premise Pro Interface: Getting started with DebriefCast™
Learn how to use the On-Premise Interface to get started with DebriefCast™.
With the DebriefCast™, facilitators can stream any session to a “Debriefing Station” and maintain the use of a “presenter view” on their screen. This allows participants to focus on the recorded videos in full screen while the facilitator maintains access to events and annotations to guide the debriefing process without distracting the audience. DebriefCast™ is installed through a small desktop application to a computer connected to the screen you wish to debrief and your SimCapture network. Once a session is recorded, it can be quickly reviewed from any web browser connected to your wireless network and effortlessly streamed to any configured debriefing stations.
What do I need to use DebriefCast™?
To install and use the full functionality of DebriefCast™, your institution will require the following:
- Version 5.9.2 or later of SimCapture On-Premise.
- One or more Debriefing Stations, which is created using a computer with the following:
- Windows 7 or above with Administrative access.
- Administrative access is only needed for initial installation.
- A network connection that is accessible to your SimCapture system.
- Wired connection to a screen or projection device to display videos.
- Windows 7 or above with Administrative access.
Configuring DebriefCast™
DebriefCast™ is installed using a small application on the Debriefing Station provided by our support team. This application will run in the background while the computer is on and wait for a signal to begin streaming video. Once the application is installed and configured, no interaction should be required unless IP addresses change or troubleshooting is required.
Steps for Installing and Configuring DebriefCast™ Application
Step 1: Acquire the DebriefCast™ installer from a member of our support team.
Step 2: Right-click on the installer file and select “Run as Administrator” to install the application on the
Debriefing Station.
Step 3: Once the application is installed, there should be an icon in the tray (or the app may open automatically after installation).
- If the app doesn't automatically open, right-click the tray icon and select "reset connection" which will open the application.
Step 4: Input a station name (which will identify that debriefing station in the DebriefCast™ menu) and server link (the hostname or IP address of the SimCapture Central).
- Make sure that the IP address or hostname includes "http://" or "https://" in front of it.
Step 5: Click Submit.
Step 6: The page should disappear, but the tray app icon should still be visible from the Windows taskbar.
Step 7: Repeat these steps for all Debriefing Stations, ensuring that all stations' names are unique.
