SimCapture alerts you when scheduling conflicts occur. These warnings help prevent accidental double-booking of locations and equipment. Review the warning before saving the reservation and determine whether the conflict should be resolved or intentionally overridden.
Reservation Conflicts
If a reservation overlaps (same time and location), a warning appears.
- Calendar Administrators can override conflicts and double-book if needed.
What causes a reservation conflict?
A reservation conflict can occur when:
- Two reservations use the same location during overlapping times.
- A reservation is edited and now overlaps with an existing reservation.
- A new reservation is created for a location that is already booked.
What should I do?
- Review the conflicting reservation.
- Adjust the date, time, or location if needed.
- If the overlap is intentional, a Calendar Administrator can override the warning and save the reservation.
Equipment Conflicts
Warnings appear when reserving equipment already in use.
Consumable inventory items DO NOT trigger warnings.
Examples
| Reservation Type | Warning Displayed? |
|---|---|
| Same manikin reserved for overlapping reservations | Yes |
| Same camera reserved for overlapping reservations | Yes |
| Different equipment reserved at the same time | No |
| Consumable inventory item reserved multiple times | No |
Best Practices
- Review all warnings before saving a reservation.
- Confirm that locations and equipment are truly available.
- Avoid overriding conflicts unless simultaneous use is intended.
- Coordinate with faculty and staff when double-booking locations or equipment.
