Learners can access Remote OSCE exams by clicking the Remote Exam: Learner link in the My Courses section. If a learner is not assigned to a room, they will see a message indicating No exams available.
Before the exam starts, learners can select and preview their camera and microphone settings.
Once the Proctor places the learner in the room, the Please wait. Your remote exam in the room “RemoteRoom 1” is about to start will indicate that the exam is about to begin. They can then recheck their camera and microphone settings before starting.
When the Proctor opens the room for learners, they will see the Begin Exam button at the top of the page. Clicking this button will take the learner to the first stage of the exam flow, which may include the Honor Code, Door Note, or EMR.
During the exam, learners will see a screen displaying:
- The virtual room
- The learner's first and last name
- Time remaining in the encounter
- Video and audio feeds of the learner and the Standardized Patient (SP)
- The Electronic Medical Record (EMR), if applicable
- A Stop Encounter button
If an EMR is provided, it will be prominently displayed, allowing learners to complete it while still viewing the video feeds of themselves and the SP.
Once the encounter and any follow-up evaluations or recordings are completed, learners will return to the Remote Encounter Waiting Room to save their progress and exit the session.
