System Administrators and Administrators can now create Audio Announcements and add them to Scenarios. These announcements will let learners and SPs know when 5, 2, and 1 minute(s) is left prior to the end of an encounter/post-encounter.
Keep in mind that IN-USE audio announcements cannot be deleted.
Let's take a look below to see how this is done.
Create and edit an audio announcement
- Access the System Setup area by clicking the Gear icon.
- Go to the Exams pod.
- Click the Audio Messages link.
- Click + Add
- Enter the required Title of your audio message.
- Enter the text of the audio message. This will be converted to speech and played through the speakers.
- Click Save.
You can also upload a 15 MB audio file (.mp3, .adts, .flax) as an audio announcement to allow you to use a different voice, combine sounds and voice, and offer the announcement in different languages.
Edit an audio announcement
- Go to your Saved audio messages.
- Click the title of the audio message.
- Edit your audio message.
Add an audio announcement to a scenario
Course administrators can enable and configure audio announcements when configuring scenario exam flows. To add an audio announcement to a new scenario, take these steps.
- Click the name of the course that you want to add a scenario to.
- In the Curriculum pod, click Add New Scenario.
- Click Create New.
- Add a required title. Overview and Learning Objectives, while not required to create the scenario, are useful to hold information.
- Select Standardized Patient from the Scenario Requirements pod. Note: You must select this option to add an audio announcement.
- Select Audio Announcements in the Select your exam components list.
- Click Save.
Once you have clicked Save, you will see the screen below where you can add previously created announcements by selecting an announcement from the Audio Message drop-down, as well as adding how long you'd like the announcement to play.
Remember to click Save after making your selection.
Once you have saved the audio announcement, you are taken back to the scenario you just created, and from there, you can view and edit audio announcements.
