Standalone Scenario evaluations function similarly to Course evaluations, but with a few important differences:
- They are tied to a Scenario , not a session
- They can be assigned at any time
- They may include an optional Scoring Rubric
Standalone Scenario evaluations are ideal when you want to assess learner performance without scheduling or running a session.
Create a Standalone Scenario Evaluation
Creating a Standalone Scenario evaluation involves three steps:
- Create a Scenario
- Convert it to a Standalone Scenario
- Add an Evaluation
Step 1: Create a New Scenario
- Navigate to the desired Course .
- In the Curriculum pod , select Add New Scenario .
- Choose Create New and enter a title for the Scenario.
- In Scenario Requirements, select one:
- Simulator
- Standardized Patient
- Peer to Peer
- Self-recorded
- Click Save .
Step 2: Convert the Scenario to Standalone
- In the Scenario Content pod , locate the newly created Scenario.
- Select the pencil icon to edit.
- Choose Standalone Scenario .
- (Optional) Add a Scoring Rubric .
- Click Save .
Step 3: Add an Evaluation
- In the Scenario Content pod , locate the Standalone Scenario.
- Select + Add Evaluation .
- Choose Create New and enter a required evaluation title.
- In the Evaluation Preview pod , select Add questions .
- Choose how questions will be added:
- Manual input
- Samaritan assisted
- Click Save .
Adding Questions (Manual Input)
If you selected Manual input , click Add questions in the Evaluation Preview pod and choose from:
- Multiple Choice
- USMLE Diagnosis
- Information
- Free Text
- Media attachments supported:
.gif,.jpg,.jpeg,.mp3,.mp4,.m4v,.mov
- Media attachments supported:
- Library
- Select Add after choosing a question from the Library
Click Save , then Done .
Once finished, the evaluation is ready to be assigned.
Assign a Standalone Scenario Evaluation
To assign the evaluation:
- Locate the Standalone evaluation in the Course Agenda pod .
- Select Go to full agenda .
- Select + Assign Evaluation .
- From Evaluation to Assign , choose the evaluation.
- (Optional) Filter by Scenario .
- Set a Release Date & Time .

(Optional) Set a Retract Date & Time.
- If left blank, the evaluation remains open.
- Choose who to assign it to:
- All Course Participants
- Only Select Users
- (Optional) Enable Allow Completion Over Time .
- Click Save .
What Happens Next?
After assignment, the Standalone Scenario evaluation:
- Appears in the Curriculum pod for assigned users
- Functions like a Course evaluation, but remains tied to the Scenario
- Can be completed independently of session scheduling
