This article explains how to access, review, and edit a recorded session within your SimCapture organization.
Things to Know Before You Begin
- You do not need to be on the local network to access administrative functions or debrief sessions.
- If you don't know your username or password, or don't have an account, please contact your System Administrator or email SimCapture Support.
Key Terms
- Summary: Displays basic session information. If you're the owner or a contributor, you can edit or delete the session using the icon in the upper-right corner.
-
People: Session users are grouped as:
- Owners: Full control, including deletion.
- Contributors: Can edit and annotate (permissions vary).
- Participants: Can annotate and view others' annotations.
- Viewers: Can only view the session and Summary tab.
- External Link: Owners and System Admins can generate a public link to a session video. This link provides view‑only access to the video without including any annotations, simulator data, or user information. Public links do not expire automatically. They remain active as long as the session itself is not deleted, or until someone with access chooses to manually remove the external link.
- Annotate: Use predefined or ad-hoc annotations to mark key moments in the session timeline.
- Event Log: Lists all annotations. Clicking one jumps to that moment in the video.
Viewing a Recorded Session
- Go to your SimCapture site and log in using your credentials or SSO (if enabled).
- If this was your most recent session, check the Quick Debrief pod.
- Otherwise, click Sessions in the global navigation and select the session title.
- The video will begin playing automatically. Use the play/pause button to control playback.
First-time loading may take a few seconds. If it takes longer than 10 seconds or feeds don't load, please report the issue.
Editing and Annotating a Session
In a simulation's output, annotations can be used to mark specific events, data points, or regions of interest to draw attention to crucial findings.
- Click the blue sidebar tab on the right side of the session viewer to open editing tools.
- Use the Annotate tab to:
- Filter and select predefined annotations.
- Add ad-hoc annotations by clicking the annotation button.
- Use the Event Log to:
- View all annotations.
- Jump to specific moments in the session.
Bulk Updating Recorded Sessions
- Click Sessions in the global navigation bar.
- Select multiple sessions.
- Click Edit.
- Select which attributes you'd like to update. (Owner, Contributor, Participant, Viewer, Location, Organization and Notes)
- Click Save.
To update one session, select that session and follow steps 3-5.
Currently, we do not offer the ability to download nor upload multiple sessions.
Trimming a Session (Optional)
- Click the session video you want to edit.
- In the lower-right corner, click the Trim icon.
- Make your edits and click Save.
Caution: Trimming will permanently replace the original video. All evaluations will be transferred to the edited version.
Returning to the Session List
- Hover over the blue line at the top of the screen to reveal the global navigation bar.
- Or, click your browser's back arrow to return to the previous page.
