Audio announcements notify learners and Standardized Patients (SPs) when 5, 2, or 1 minute remains in an encounter or post-encounter session.

Why this matters
Audio announcements help ensure consistent timing cues during simulations, improving learner pacing and reducing facilitator intervention.

Note: Audio announcements that are currently in use cannot be deleted.

Create an Audio Announcement

1. Select the Gear icon to open System Setup
2. Navigate to Exams
3. Select Audio Messages
4. Select + Add
5. Enter a Title
6. Enter the message text
   • This text is converted to speech and played during sessions
7. Select Save

(Optional) Upload a Custom Audio File

Toggle Upload an audio file on the New Audio Message page to use a custom recording instead of text-to-speech

Supported formats:

• .mp3
• .adts
• .flac
• Maximum size: 15 MB

Common use cases:

• Custom or branded voice recordings
• Sound effects
• Multilingual announcements

Edit an Audio Announcement

1. Go to Audio Messages
2. Select the announcement title
3. Make your changes
4. Click Save

Add an Audio Announcement to a Scenario

Step 1: Create or Open a Scenario

1. Navigate to your Course
2. Select the course name
3. In Curriculum , click Add New Scenario
4. Select Create New
5. Enter a Scenario Title (required)
6. (Optional) Add an Overview and Learning Objectives

Step 2: Enable Audio Announcements

1. In Scenario Requirements, select Standardized Patient
2. In Exam Components, select Audio Announcements
3. Select Save

Step 3: Configure the Announcement

After saving, you can:

• Select an audio message from the Audio Message dropdown
• Set when it plays:
  • 5 minutes remaining
  • 2 minutes remaining
  • 1 minute remaining
• Select Save again

Once saved, you can view or edit audio announcements anytime from the scenario page.
