SimCapture Enterprise with Exam System: Creating and Using Audio Announcements in SimCapture

System Administrators and Administrators can create Audio Announcements to notify learners and Standardized Patients (SPs) when 5, 2, or 1 minute remains in an encounter or post-encounter session.
Note: Audio announcements that are currently in use cannot be deleted.
How to Create an Audio Announcement
- Click the Gear icon to access System Setup.
- Navigate to the Exams section.
- Click Audio Messages.
- Click + Add.
- Enter a Title for your announcement.
- Type the message text—this will be converted to speech and played during the session.
- Click Save.
Optional: Upload a Custom Audio File
You can upload an audio file (up to 15 MB) in .mp3, .adts, or .flac format. This allows for:
- Custom voices
- Sound effects
- Multilingual announcements
Editing an Audio Announcement
- Go to your list of saved audio messages.
- Click the title of the message you want to edit.
- Make your changes and Save.
Adding an Audio Announcement to a Scenario
Course Administrators can add audio announcements when setting up a new scenario:
- Go to your Course and click the course name.
- In the Curriculum section, click Add New Scenario.
- Click Create New.
- Enter a Scenario Title (required). You may also add an Overview and Learning Objectives.
- In the Scenario Requirements section, select Standardized Patient. (This step is required to enable audio announcements).
- In the Exam Components list, select Audio Announcements.
- Click Save.
After saving, you’ll be able to:
- Select a previously created audio message from the Audio Message dropdown.
- Set the timing for when the announcement should play (e.g., 5, 2, or 1 minute remaining).
Don’t forget to click Save again after making your selections.
Once saved, you’ll return to the scenario page where you can view or edit the audio announcements at any time.
