If you are a new customer, as part of your SimCapture Cloud purchase and outlined in your services agreement, a member of Laerdal support will contact you to begin planning your installation. This will include reviewing all installation and networking requirements as well as a site readiness survey before installation begins.
If you are an existing customer, please make your IT team aware of the information in this article so they can assist you in ensuring your SimCapture installation continues to meet network requirements.
Things to know before you begin
Our SimCapture Cloud AV products include cameras, microphones, and audio modules and may include speakers, amplifiers, and digital signal processors for use in recording and paging (when control station packages are purchased). Most of these devices use PoE and PoE+. The client providing the network is responsible for providing switches capable of providing PoE+ and enough wattage to support all devices.
Note: Refer to the original manufacturers documentation for more detailed requirements.
SimCapture Cloud recommends a minimum of one Gigabit (1Gb) uplink from the Customer’s internet work to be available for connecting the Customer’s network to the SimCapture Cloud services.
Advanced networking and port requirements
More detailed and advanced hardware and networking requirements may be found in SimCapture Cloud Hardware Installation Requirements.
Outgoing internet connections
- SimCapture Cloud services are hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS). Devices interacting with SimCapture will need to communicate with those services over HTTP (443/TCP).
- Live viewing of video requires webRTC (443/TCP, 5000-5100/UDP/TCP, 49152-65535 UDP).
- Whitelisting by FQDN/IP address is not recommended as these may change within the AWS infrastructure.
- All connections from SimCapture Cloud are outgoing and never require incoming internet access.

Mobile Camera Port Requirements (Effective March 2026)
Starting in March 2026, we are updating the streaming technology used for SimCapture Mobile Camera sessions. This update also applies to Mobile Camera sessions that include Patient Monitor Capture app feeds.
As part of this change, some customers may need to update their network configuration. Adjusting firewall ports and connection settings can help ensure optimal live‑streaming performance and reliable session recording.
Minimum Network Requirements
To support basic Mobile Camera live video streaming, the following port must be available:
- 443 (TCP)
This port is required for Mobile Camera sessions to connect and stream video.
Recommended Ports for Best Performance
For improved latency, stability, and video quality, we strongly recommend allowing the following additional ports:
- 443 (UDP)
- 7881 (ICE/TCP)
- 50000–60000 (ICE/UDP)
Opening these ports enables more efficient real‑time media transport and provides the best overall streaming experience.
Regional Host Addresses
Detailed host addresses vary by region.
Note: If a host is listed as Node, the connection will use the IP address of the underlying Amazon EKS node. These IP ranges can be found in the AWS IP Address Ranges documentation.
