Peer-to-Peer Practice Using One Device
In a peer-to-peer session, one person is the Learner, and the other is the Observer. Here's how to get started:
1. Log In
Go to your SimCapture for Skills site: [yourorganization].simcapture.com/skills
2. Select a Skill
- Under Your Course List, select a non-self-record skill.
- Review the Overview and Learning Objectives.
3. Start Practice
- Select Practice.
- Choose Practice with a Peer as your mode.
Assign Your Observing Peer
- Select your Observer from the dropdown.
- Choose 1 Device as the Pairing Type.
- Select Start.
Note: There is no pre-reflection shown to the Learner. The Observer will be prompted to complete it once the evaluation begins.
Evaluation Process
- On the Evaluations page, select Got it.
- The Observer will see a skills checklist.
- As the Learner performs the skill, the Observer marks each item as Complete or Incomplete.
- When finished, the Observer selects Submit Checklist.
Comments & Reflections
Some questions may prompt the Learner to add a comment. These can be added by selecting the comment icon and typing in the text box.
Reflections and checklist items can be configured to include these comment prompts.
Session Feedback
After submission, the Learner can view detailed feedback:
- Done: Full credit (e.g., 5/5)
- Partial Credit: Some points awarded
- Missed: No credit
- Unscored: No point value (e.g., free text)
Select the dropdown arrow next to each question to view feedback.

Question Categories
Categories help identify strengths and areas for improvement. For example, QSEN (Quality and Safety Education in Nursing) categories may be used to align questions with core competencies.
This helps both learners and administrators track progress and identify knowledge gaps.
