The Session Transcript tab is now available in the Session Viewer for all sessions in SimCapture! This feature makes it easier than ever to review spoken content, search for key moments, and share excerpts for documentation or debriefing.

Key Features

• Speaker Identification: Transcripts differentiate speakers for better context.
• Time-Synced Playback: Use the transcript as a reference to manually navigate forward and backward through the session video.
• Searchable Text: Use your browser's Find function to locate specific terms or phrases.
• Locale-Aware Transcription: Transcripts are optimized based on your site's language and regional settings.

Before you start

Here are a few important things to know before using the Debrief Transcription feature:

Feature Availability

• The Session video transcription feature is part of the broader Samaritan feature set.
• A System Admin must enable the Session video transcription feature in System Settings before you can use it.

• You'll know that the transcription feature has been enabled when you see the chat icons in the tab.

Requirements

• Import file size cannot exceed 2GB.
• Session duration cannot exceed 4 hours.
• File/Session must contain audio (the better the audio quality the better the transcription quality).

What Is the Session Transcript Tab?

The Session Transcript tab is a dedicated space within each session that displays a full-text, time-stamped transcript of all audio captured during the session. It helps users:

• Quickly scan what was said during the session
• Search for keywords or phrases using your browser's Find function
• Copy and share relevant excerpts for documentation or debriefing

Permissions & Access

• If you can view a session video, you can also view and generate transcripts.
• Only System Admins and Session Owners can delete transcripts.

How to Use the Transcript Tab

Generate a Transcript

1. Open any session in SimCapture. Note: Sessions without audio cannot be transcribed.
2. Select the Session Transcript tab.
3. Select the Generate Transcript button.
4. A loading indicator will appear while the transcript is being processed.
5. Once complete, the transcript will be displayed and synced with session timestamps.

Accuracy Note: Transcription quality may vary depending on audio clarity, speaker volume, and background noise.

View a Transcript

To view a transcript:

1. Go to a session with video and audio.
2. Select the transcript tab and view the transcript.

Additionally, you can also generate a transcript should one not appear.

Export a Transcript

To export a transcript:

1. Choose the session you want to export.
2. Select the export icon as shown above by the orange arrow.

The export will being immediately.

Search a Transcript

The search feature reacts immediate to typed text and allows you to look for keywords within your transcript.

To search a transcript:

1. Choose the session transcript you'd like to search.
2. Type your search words in the Search transcript area as shown by the magnifying glass.

You can also use your browser's Find function to locate specific terms or phrases.

Delete a Transcript

Only System Admins or Session Owners can delete a transcript:

1. Go to the Summary tab of the session.
2. Select the kebab menu (three vertical dots).
3. Select Delete transcripts.
4. Confirm by selecting Delete.

Deleted transcripts can be re-generated at any time using the Generate Transcript button.
