Release version 5.8.5

Laerdal Medical is happy to announce the release of SimCapture version 5.8.5. This new version delivers some much-anticipated improvements to our exam system along with an introduction to our newest form factor, SimCapture Node with Webcams.

Exam system improvements (CCM)

This summer, we have been working diligently to tackle the top reported performance issues related to our exam system. With these improvements, we will deliver a faster and more consistent experience for learners, SPs, and administrators during large exams.

Improvements

• Eliminated the delays when updating and saving the configuration of a room which were consistently significant during large exams.
• Increased performance around submitting checklists during exams to alleviate users’ anxiety while waiting for the system.
• To help speed up and simplify room configuration, we removed the simulator selection from the room configuration.
• Updated the system so that the “Finalizing Recording” message screen will not appear at inappropriate times during an exam and confuse users. It has been replaced with a more accurate “Loading Video…Please Wait” message.

New exam system tray app 

Newly designed Exam System Tray Application eliminates the need for Adobe Air while delivering identical functionality and performance for SP and learner workstations.

Simulation integration updates

New LLEAP versions verified

Tested and validated that these new versions of LLEAP work with our software:

• LLEAP Version: 6.2.1.3021
• LLEAP Beta Version: 6.3.0.3110

Note: There were instances when installing the new LLEAP versions would delete the SimCapture plugin. If you experience issues after upgrading, please confirm our plugin is still installed correctly and if further problems persist, please contact the SimCapture Support Team.

Hardware updates

Updated drivers for Axis V5914 & V5915 cameras

• Our partners at Axis released an updated version of firmware to resolve issues with their V5914/5915 cameras outputting at the wrong fps rate for SDI setups. Please contact our support team for assistance in updating the firmware.

Bug fixes and improvements

• Resolved an issue where the “Add Event” action would re-open a previous event instead of a new one.
• Fixed an issue where some browsers running Flash player 25 could not access sessions using our offline viewer. 
• Resolved a lingering issue with our new Center Sign-In with scheduling functionality that prevented users from seeing the set of notes if they were too long.
