System Automated Exam flows
Learn how to automate exam flows within your system for more efficient and streamlined testing processes.
Table of Contents
We’ve introduced the System Automated exam flow that allows all Learners to begin and finish an exam at the same time and provide congruent timing for each learner within each phase of the exam. This is accomplished by using the System Automated scenario which automatically advances Learners and standardized patients through the phases of an exam flow based on the configured settings. Additionally, we have added a Waiting Room phase where all Learners begin, and which is only able to be advanced by a Proctor. Once the Proctor has advanced Learners from the Waiting Room, the exam flows from phase to phase when the timer for the phase elapses until the exam is complete.
Things to know before you begin
When using the System Automated scenario:
- Only Administrative users who have create scenarios/course content can create this exam flow.
- Learners and standardized patients cannot advance to other phases on their own.
- System Automated scenarios can be imported and exported as a .pdf and can be copied.
- System Automated scenarios are not selectable when using Remote OSCE.
How it works
To create an Automated Exam flow, take the following steps.
- Log in to your SimCapture organization.
- Create a Course or use an existing Course.
- Click Add New Scenario.
4. Click Create New.
5. Select Standardized Patient.
6. Select System Automated and configure the exam phases to your liking. Click Save.
7. Configure the times, which are required and therefore pre-selected, to your preference on the Exam Flow Edit page for your Scenario and select your Honor code, if applicable, which are pre-built in System Setup in the Exam area. Click Save.
8. Go to the scenario you just created and add Standardized Patients and any Door Notes/Evaluations/EMRs if applicable.
9. Click Control in the global navigation bar.
10. Configure your exam room using the System Automated scenario you have created. (For more information on how to configure an exam room, see SimCapture Enterprise with Exam System: Accessing and using the control interface.)
11. Login or Remote login Learners into the scenario to begin the exam.
12. Once (all) Learners reach the Waiting Room phase, the exam session is started by highlighting (all) configured rooms and clicking the Start Encounter button.
No additional action is needed for the remainder of the exam session, as the rooms automatically advance from phase to phase as the timers expire.
