The Remote OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination) feature allows Proctors to manage and monitor virtual clinical encounters in real time. This guide walks you through accessing the Remote OSCE interface and understanding the tools available to support a smooth exam experience.
Things to Know Before You Begin
- This feature is only available to Proctors with access to the Control Interface.
- The Remote OSCE symbol will appear when the feature is activated for your organization.
Accessing the Remote OSCE Interface
- Log into your SimCapture organization.
- Navigate to the Control Interface.
- Look for and select the Remote OSCE symbol.
Once selected, you'll enter an interface similar to the standard Control Interface, with added tools for managing virtual rooms and participants.
Key Features of the Remote OSCE Interface
- Bulk Actions: Start all encounters or open all rooms for learners at once.
- Room List: View and manage individual virtual rooms.
- Configuration Options: Set up courses, scenarios, patients, learners, and display colors.
- Add Rooms on Demand: Create new rooms as needed during the session.
Note: When running multiple Remote OSCEs, course, scenario, and patient settings will persist unless manually cleared by the Proctor.
Monitoring Room Status
As learners and Standardized Patients enter the Remote OSCE, you'll see status indicators for each room:
- Disconnected: A participant is not connected (may indicate an audio/video issue).
- Connected: A participant is present in the virtual room.
Using the Monitor Interface
Proctors can also use the Monitor Interface during exams for view-only access to rooms.
To grant monitoring access:
- Go to Course > People > Monitors.
- Assign Monitor Permission at the course level.
