The SimCapture Paging Station allows you to communicate with learners and Standardized Patients across multiple rooms using a microphone and speaker setup. With this tool, you can speak into one, multiple, or all rooms simultaneously, while listening to only one room at a time.

Things to Know Before You Begin

You must have a headphone and microphone enabled or registered on the computer before configuring the software.

  • If not, the application may appear frozen when trying to open the configuration menu.

The Microsoft Store must be enabled on your computer to install the appxBundle file, as it includes a trusted signing certificate.

For installation support, contact Customer Support at 877-LAERDAL (523-7325).

Getting Started with the Paging Station Application

  1. Open the SimCapture Paging Station application.
  2. Depending on your setup, you may see multiple Groups or Rooms.

Paging by Group

To page all groups and rooms:

  1. Select the All tile under Groups (it will turn blue).
  2. Select and hold the Push to Talk tile while speaking into the microphone.
  3. De-select the All tile to stop paging.

To page specific groups:

  1. Select the desired group(s).
  2. Select and hold Push to Talk to speak.

Paging by Room

To page specific rooms:

  1. Select the room(s) you want to page.
  2. Select and hold Push to Talk to speak.

To listen to a room:

  1. Double-click the room tile (it will turn orange).
  2. Your headset or speakers will activate.
  3. You can still speak into the room while listening.

Note: You can only listen to one room at a time, but you can page into multiple rooms.

Managing Room Groupings

  1. Select the Settings icon.
  2. In the Manage Groups section:
    • To create a group, enter a name and select Add.
    • To delete a group, select it from the dropdown and select Delete.
    • To reassign rooms, select Manage Room Assignments, select a group, and check/uncheck rooms.

Best Practices for Software Paging with SimCapture

Use a dual monitor setup:

  • One screen for the Paging Station app.
  • One screen for SimCapture.

Mute volume in SimCapture, not on your PC, to avoid audio latency.

Reinstalling Software Paging for Other Users

When new users log into the control PC:

  1. Install the app using Simcapture_Paging_Station_0.1.9.msix.
  2. Open the app to verify installation (no rooms/groups should appear).
  3. Close the app.
  4. Copy the AudioModules.json file to: C:\Users\<new user>\AppData\Local\Packages\3B3BA5EC-A97F-474B-83CB-E60EB06AE8FA_<character string>\LocalState\ (Replace the existing file. Admin rights required.)
  5. Reopen the app to confirm the configuration loads correctly.
