The SimCapture Cloud Exam System enables administrators and proctors to configure, manage, and deliver structured OSCE exams using flexible workflows, role-based interfaces, and real-time monitoring.
Exam System Interfaces
SimCapture uses four interfaces, each designed for a specific role:
| Interface | Used By | Key Capabilities |
|---|---|---|
| Student | Learners | Log in, complete exam steps, submit evaluations |
| Patient | Standardized Patients | View timers, complete evaluations |
| Control | Proctors/Admins | Configure rooms, start/stop exams, monitor sessions |
| Monitor | Faculty/Observers | Observe live sessions, complete evaluations |
These interfaces work together to support coordinated exam delivery across multiple rooms and participants.
How the Exam Workflow Progresses
1. Pre-Encounter
- Honor Code acknowledgment
- Door Note review
2. Encounter
- Live interaction between learner and SP
- Timer-controlled session
- Recording and EMR available
3. Post-Encounter
- Learner and/or SP complete evaluations
- Responses are saved and may appear in debrief
Key Configuration Options
Timers
- Hard timer → Automatically advances the exam
- Soft timer → Requires manual progression
Evaluations
- Assigned to learner, SP, or both
- Must be completed during or after the encounter
EMR
- Available during the encounter (if configured)
- Supports real-time documentation
Control Models
Proctor-Driven
- Proctor starts/stops sessions
- Best for high-stakes, tightly scheduled exams
Student-Driven
- Learner controls recording and progression
- Best for practice or lower-stakes environments
Best Practices
- Review all exam flow settings before starting
- Confirm timer type and evaluation timing
- Choose the control model based on exam structure
- Test exam stations and workflows in advance.
Summary
The SimCapture Cloud Exam System provides a flexible, role-based framework for delivering OSCEs, combining configurable workflows, multiple interfaces, and real-time monitoring to support consistent and scalable exam delivery.
