How to Work with Evaluations in SimCapture Enterprise

This guide walks you through everything you need to know about working with evaluations in SimCapture Enterprise.
Things to Know Before You Begin
- This functionality is only available to Administrative users with the appropriate permissions.
- Evaluations are tied to Scenarios and can be configured in multiple formats depending on your training goals.
Preparing and Building an Evaluation

Navigate to the Scenario:
- Go to the Curriculum field and select the name of the Scenario

Configure Evaluation Type:
- Select the Gear icon.
- Select the type(s) of evaluation you want to associate with the Scenario.
- Select Confirm.

Adding Evaluations to Scenarios
- In the Evaluation field, select Click to add Evaluation or Click to add another Evaluation.
- Choose to Create a New Evaluation or Copy an Existing Evaluation.
- Enter a Private Title and set Availability (if applicable).
- Select Save to access the Evaluation Preview.
- In the preview, select Add Questions to build your evaluation.
- Select Save when finished.
Assigning Evaluations: Types & Timing
SimCapture supports five types of evaluations. Here’s how each is assigned:
1. Before Session
- Auto-assigned based on participant reservation.
- Released X days before the session and retracted at session start time.
2. Administrator
- Can be completed anytime during or after the session.
- Multiple admins can evaluate the same session.
- Can be for individuals or teams.
3. After Session
- Auto-assigned upon session completion.
- Available in the learner’s portfolio and retracted X days after the session ends.
4. Reflection
- Completed by learners during debrief.
- Requires the session to be released from the Course Agenda page.
5. Standalone
- Not tied to a session.
- Can be assigned anytime and may include a scoring rubric.

Exam EMR Evaluations
- Used in Standardized Patient (SP) scenarios.
- Accessed via the Control/Exam interface.
- Can be pre-filled by instructors to simulate EMR documentation.

Editing Evaluations
Both incomplete and completed evaluations can be edited in Session viewer as well as in the Course.
Edit in Session Viewer
To edit in the Session Viewer:
- Choose your session
- Select the blue tab
- Select the evaluation icon (circle with a checkmark and a line under the checkmark)
- Select the incomplete or completed evaluation you'd like to edit and select Save when done.
You can still edit evaluations in the course, but you will not be redirected to the course from the Session viewer.
Printing Evaluations
Print Any Evaluation (Blank, In-Progress, or Completed)
- Select the Evaluation Name.
- Select Print.
- Choose your print options.
- Select Print again. You’ll see: "A PDF file is being generated for this evaluation template. The download will start when it is ready."
- Select Done to download the PDF.
Print Completed or In-Progress Evaluations
- Select See completed and in-progress evaluations.
- Select Print and select your options from the Print Evaluation Template area.
- Wait for the PDF to generate and download.
