Assigning evaluations
Below is a quick guide to the five evaluations found in SimCapture Enterprise and how these evaluations can be assigned.
Before Session
Assigned automatically based on participants being associated with a reservation for that Scenario either immediately once they're added to the schedule or x days before the scheduled start time. The evaluations automatically retract at the scheduled start time. For example, suppose a session is scheduled for Saturday at 8 am, and the evaluation is set to be released two days before the Session. In that case, participants will have access to complete the evaluation from Thursday at 8 am until Saturday at 8 am. If students log in at 8:01 am on Saturday, they will not see the evaluation.
Administrator
Administrators with permission to evaluate can complete these anytime from the Session itself, either live or in debrief. Multiple administrators may complete the same evaluation. The Administrator evaluation can be either for the team or an individual participant in the Session.
After Session
Assigned automatically based on participants being associated with a session and completed from the participant portfolio. These are released to the participant's portfolio immediately upon session completion and will be retracted X days after the time the Session ends, based on the configuration on the evaluation detail page. If the student finishes their Session at 8 am on Thursday and the evaluation retraction time is set for two days, they'll have until 8 am Saturday to complete it.
Reflection
Self-reflections are completed by session participants directly from the Session viewer while debriefing. These cannot be completed until sessions are released to students from the Course agenda page, as without that, participants will be unable to view their sessions to reflect.
Standalone
Standalone evaluations are associated with a Scenario, are session-less, can be assigned at any time and can have a Scoring rubric. For more information about the Standalone evaluation, see SimCapture Enterprise: How to create and assign a Standalone evaluation for a scenario.
Exam EMR
Currently only available with standardized patient (SP) scenarios and used through the control/exam interface, the Exam EMR, which can be pre-filled by the instructor, is typically used to get students accustomed to filling out documents on a computer while facing/interacting with a patient.
For more information about the Exam EMR, see SimCapture Enterprise with Exam System: How to set up exam flows and use EMR forms.
