This article will guide you on how to upload a session video recorded using an external device. Once the upload is complete, the video will function as if it were recorded using SimCapture.
Things to know before you begin
We use Amazon Transcoding Services, which supports popular web, consumer, and professional media formats, including 3GP, AAC, AVI, FLV, MP4, and MPEG-2. If you encounter a format that doesn’t work, please contact support.
Upload a session video
After logging into your SimCapture organization, follow these steps to upload your session video.
- Click Sessions in the global navigation bar, then select Import.
- Drag and drop your video file, or click Choose File to select the video files you wish to upload.
After selecting your videos, they will be uploaded to the transcoding service, and you will see progress bars during the process. The upload time may vary based on the length of the videos and your internet connection speed.
While your videos are uploading, you can select a Scenario, Title, Organization, Location, and add Notes for your session. You can also adjust the session date and time to reflect when your recording was created.
Once the videos have finished uploading, you can save the session, which will take you directly to the session viewer. Depending on the length of the videos, transcoding and loading in the viewer may take some time. You are free to navigate elsewhere or log out during this process. If the transcoding takes longer than 15 minutes, an email will be sent to the user who uploaded the session, notifying them that it is ready to view.
Note: The Save option is only available when all uploaded videos display a green check mark.
