SimCapture sends notifications to keep users informed about important updates related to courses, inventory, scheduling, sessions, and user accounts. Below is a breakdown of the types of notifications and when they are triggered.
Course Notifications
Notifications related to course enrollment, progress, imports, ownership, and contributors.
Audience: Participants, monitors, contributors, admins, owners
Trigger: Enrollment, course progress, imports, ownership/role updates, exports, score release
Examples
- Course User Added – Sent when a participant, monitor, contributor, or SP is added to a course.
- Course Completed – Sent when a user completes a course.
- Course Started – Sent when a course begins.
- Course Import Completed – Sent after a bulk import.
- Course Import Error – Sent if an import fails.
- Course Admins Changed – Sent when admins change.
- Course Contributor Added – Sent when a contributor is added.
- Course Owner Changed/Courses Owner Changed – Sent when ownership changes.
- Course Settings - Sent to owner of a course when Contributor/Viewer sharing settings change.
- Course Scenario Added – Sent when a scenario is added to a course.
- Scores/Session Released - Scores/session for a course are released.
Scenario Notifications (Pro-Only)
Notifications related to scenarios, ownership, and contributors
Audience: Viewers, contributors, admins, owners
Trigger: Changes to scenario ownership or user roles
Examples
- Scenario updated (roles changed) - Sent when a scenario’s owner, contributor, or viewer roles are updated.
- Scenario ownership updated (bulk) - Notifies you when ownership is changed for multiple scenarios at once.
Inventory Notifications
Notifications related to consumable inventory stock levels.
Audience: System admins
Trigger: Consumable inventory item reaches or drops below defined low stock threshold
Example
- Low Stock Notification – Sent to system admins when a consumable item reaches the low stock threshold.
Scheduling Notifications (Reservations)
Notifications tied to reservations: participant management, approvals, cancellations, and updates.
Audience: Participants, owners, admins, requestors
Trigger: Reservation creation, update, cancellation, approval, denial, deletion

- Participant Added to Reservation – Sent when added to a calendar or course event.

- Reservation Request Created – Sent to admin (new request) or requestor (confirmation).
- Reservation Request Approved / Approved with Changes / Denied / Deleted – Sent to requestor based on decision.
