The Control Interface in SimCapture Enterprise with Exam System allows administrators to configure exam rooms, assign participants, monitor encounters, and manage exam workflows from a centralized dashboard.

Before You Begin

Before using the Control Interface:

• You must have permission to access the Control Interface.
• Rooms must be configured before learners can begin an exam.
• The Control Interface layout can be customized to match your workflow.
• Only administrators and system administrators with the appropriate permissions can configure rooms and manage exam sessions.

Grant Access to the Control Interface

System Administrators can grant access to the Control Interface by:

1. Opening System Setup.
2. Navigating to Exams > Permissions.
3. Selecting Edit.
4. Searching for the user.
5. Assigning the user as an Administrator under Access Control Interface.
6. Clicking Save.

You can also configure whether learners must enter a password when logging into exams.

Open the Control Interface

1. Sign in as an administrator.
2. Select Control from the main navigation menu.
3. The Control Interface opens and displays available exam rooms and their current status.

Customize Your Layout

Choose the view that best supports your workflow:

• Floorplan Only: Displays rooms in a floorplan layout.
• Vertical Split: Shows the floorplan and room list side-by-side.
• Horizontal Split: Displays the floorplan above the room list.
• List Only: Displays only the room list.

A lock icon indicates that a room is currently in use and cannot be modified.

You can also customize which columns are displayed by selecting the Settings (gear) icon. Column preferences are saved per user.

Configure a Room

To configure an exam room:

1. Select the More Options menu (⋮) next to a room.
2. Click Configure Room .
3. Complete the room settings:
   • Course: Select the course associated with the exam.
   • Scenario: Select a scenario with an exam flow.
   • Patient: Assign a standardized patient (SP).
   • In-Room Evaluator: Assign a faculty evaluator.
   • Color (optional): Assign a room color for filtering and identification.

After configuring the room, choose one of the following options:

• Save: Saves the room configuration and closes the window.
• Save and Next: Saves the room configuration and opens another room for configuration.

Save and Next Options

The Save and Next feature helps administrators configure multiple rooms more efficiently.

By default, Save and Next opens the next unconfigured room. This is useful during initial setup because it automatically skips rooms that have already been configured.

If Skip Configured Rooms is disabled, Save and Next opens the next room in sequence, even if it has already been configured. This option is particularly useful when reassigning standardized patients, evaluators, or other room settings throughout the day.

For example, during an OSCE, administrators often need to update room assignments between exam rotations. Opening rooms sequentially can reduce navigation time and simplify reconfiguration.

Start an Exam Session

Once a room is configured:

1. Click Start Encounter .
2. The room status updates as the encounter progresses.

Status colors include:

• Blue: Pre-Encounter
• Red: Encounter in Progress
• Purple: Post-Encounter

To monitor an encounter, click the Camera icon to open the Monitor Interface.

The Monitor Interface provides access to live video, evaluations, and annotations during active encounters.
