SimCapture for Skills: Assign and evaluate student self-record sessions

This article will show how System Administrator users can assign and evaluate student self-record sessions.
Things to know before you begin
A self-record evaluation must exist for a Scenario before you can assign and evaluate student self-record sessions. Click here to learn more about creating an evaluation.
Browsers supported
- Chrome - recommended
- Safari - can be used and we will support.
Assign a self-record evaluation
Self-record evaluations can be assigned in three ways:
- Self-evaluation
- Peer-evaluation
- Instructor-evaluation
To select which method of evaluation you will use, take these steps to navigate to the Evaluation level of the scenario:
- Click the name of the course you want to work in.
- Click the name of the scenario. If information is needed on how to create a scenario, click here, and go to the Curriculum scenario section of the page.
- Go to the Evaluation pod and click the name of the evaluation.
- Click See scorer assignments.
- Select an individual student or all students and click Assign.
- Choose Assign Participants to Self-Score or, choose the individual (peer or course contributor) to score from the dropdown menu. Click Save.
Schedule a self-record event
After assigning a Scorer, you'll want to schedule the self-record event. Let's take a look at how this is done.
- Go the Course Agenda pod and click Go to full agenda.
- Click Assign Self-Record Scenario and then enter the required scenario to assign, choose the release time and date and assign to either all course participants or only to select users. Note that the retract time and date are optional.
- Click Save.
- Return to the Agenda page, click Release Scores, select your options and click Save.
At this point, the course can be started and students will be able to submit their self-recordings. Continue reading below for information on how to add an Instructor evaluation to any self-record session.
Add an instructor evaluation to a self-record session
- Click the Sessions tab and select the self-record session from the course you are a contributor to and want to evaluate.
- Click the blue sidebar on the right, click the checkmark icon to access the the Evaluations tab.
- Select Participant Evaluation, select the student's name from the dropdown menu and click Complete Evaluation.
- Navigate through the checklist. Click Save to save your place and expand the video to continue reviewing.
Add annotations
There are two ways to add annotations to the evaluations:
- From within the session viewer, click the text icon to select predefined annotations. These annotations are pulled from the System Setup area and added to the course scenario.
- From within the session viewer and near the bottom of the page, click annotate to add ad-hoc annotations into the timeline. These are available for students to review while reflecting on Instructor feedback.
Remember to click Save and Submit when completed.
Note: Depending on what was selected when releasing scores, students will immediately be able to review the evaluation, recording, and annotations from their profile.
